If you’re not sure whether you should be using Instagram Reels in your business, I totally get it.
Putting yourself out there can feel at the very least daunting and at the worst, a totally terrifying prospect.
I know how that feels.
It took joining Janet Murray’s Courageous Content Instagram Reels Challenge in March for me to get started.
So here are my 5 reasons why I have started to use Instagram Reels in my business (and why you should too).
It’s been a great way to reach a new audience. Some of my reels have been viewed by over 1500 people and I have added new followers to my Instagram account. Now I know that not all those people will go on to buy a class or join the academy, but if they like my content then that is a good thing.
It is very easy to spend time scrolling through your feed and before you know it an hour has passed. Capturing someone’s interest enough to make them stop and watch the reel, like and comment is a great way to start reaching new people. And hopefully some of those people will buy in the future as they get to know you.
If you’re not happy with what you have recorded the first or even the second & third time, you can delete the clips and record again before you share your reel.
Learning new tech is not something I am very good at but reels are so much easier to record than I thought. I have to admit it was the ‘How to do’ it that was holding me back.
I definitely recommend using the timer and countdown option. It helps me feel more prepared when the recording starts. But you don’t have to use that function. If you are confident to hit record with no countdown, go for it.
What’s really good is that I have been able to choose music, add captions, GIFs & emojis. All to make my reel more entertaining.
I have started experimenting with speeding up some sections of the reel when I am doing some wrapping – I don’t want to give everything away
In a nutshell, you just have to get started
More and more people are engaging with video content on social media platforms. Just look back at how Tik- Tok took the nation by storm in 2020 with crazy dances that EVERYONE seemed to be learning how to do.
Now I’m not saying you have to do crazy dances if that’s not your thing (it certainly isn’t mine) But you can have fun with your reel. It gives your audience an opportunity to get to know you. The face behind your business.
Video is still the way forward
It’s a great way to share tips or a quick tutorial that showcases something from your business without spending lots of time creating long videos.
Although I haven’t planned the content of my reels to the nth degree, I do always have an idea about what the tip or tutorial is going to be.
Running your own business & getting everything done can be challenging. No marketing department to plan your “strategy”, you have to do it all yourself if outsourcing isn’t an option
It is still essential to have a plan. Random posting on any platform is unlikely to achieve the results you want or move you closer to your goals.
It’s so much fun recording them!
I have had so much fun recording a new reel every 2 – 3 days. I have shared everything from a tip on how to make one simple change when wrapping a box to give invisible seams, make a simple bow, add a left over piece of wrapping paper to a plain gift
